D&D went pretty well Friday night. We played next to our newly installed door, which I kept seeing out of the corner of my eye and being a little weirded out about it. Those awful vertical blinds have been waving menacingly by that sliding glass door for the almost 5 years we've been in that house. I've hated them since the day we moved in, and now they are gone! Rejoice!
Saturday started off kind of not really fun; chores needed doing and they were done. We made up for it with fun afternoon shagging. We then thought about going to see puppets fucking at the Alamo, but the passes we had are only good on weekdays and we decided we didn't want to see puppet fucking badly enough to pay full price. So we went for an early dinner at Le Factorie de Cheezcake because I wanted an artichoke. Since that wasn't going to be enough I got the half a turkey sandwich and soup and salad as well. Boy, their sandwiches really do suck- they served it on that baguette bread that is hard enough to beat someone to death with, and that makes a bad sandwich bread IMHO. I should've stuck with just soup, a very pleasant chicken-mushroom-artichoke affair.
There was still plenty of day left so we wandered around the Arboretum, a very high-falutin' shopping center. Every store seemed to have golf-related things in it. The jewelry store had some absolutely beautiful pieces set with rainbows of lab-created sapphires. Sapphires really can come in any color if you add the right stuff to the mix. And before I knew they were associated with gay pride or the chakras I always loved rainbows. Maybe someday when I get a couple thousand dollars to blow I'll pick up one of those rings.
We also visited Sharper Image, which had a $2000 life-size Spider Man among other things. There was also a neat little robot vacuum cleaner that would make the cats insane (which we didn't end up needing; see below). After that we noticed the new Crate and Barrel was open, so I wanted to check that out. Their furniture was pretty average, but the bottom floor had all manner of interesting pretties and kitchen gadgets. It's sort of like Pier One or World Market but without all the rattan. Then to home.
We had an invite to the Witches Ball but were not feeling especially social. We watched 'Starsky and Hutch' which was not a laugh riot but it was amusing. I do wish 'Harold and Kumar go to Whitecastle' would come out. Then we did some more noodling around the house- moved a shelf, and put up a really cool mirror we'd found at Ikea over the bed. This meant everything on that wall had to be rearranged, so we did that. Hub did this in the black cat ears headband I'd bought for him at the goth shop. It was brain-meltingly adorable but the funny part was when the kitten caught sight of him and it freaked her out. She would stare at him, put her ears back, lower herself to the ground, and stare some more. It was like she was saying "It's a 6 foot tall cat! What the fuck!" She didn't run and let him pet her, but if he wasn't talking to her or paying attention to her directly, she would stare and look freaked out again. It was pretty funny.
Somehow this all lead to more shagging until we were exhausted. I didn't think to change the clocks back 'til early this morning, when the kitten got back at me by waking me up battling a plastic bag. She fought it until she got her neck caught in the loop and proceeded to run around like a crazy kitten. So I rescued her, changed my bedside clock and went back to bed for a bit.
There was supposed to be a lot of rain today, but it's sunny now. I hope the little sproggen get to trick or treat without getting rained on, but it was supposed to herald a nice cold front. I hope that's not been canceled; it's gonna be November tomorrow and this weather's ridiculous.
