I never did mention that we played D&D on Thursday, and that it was really cool. I enjoyed myself thoroughly, and my character is developing quite a personality. He's an elf, so he is turning up to be very snooty, and yet irritatingly curious. I had to make him match up to his low charisma score somehow without making him butt-ugly. It's also interesting to see how the other characters match up/diverge from the players' personality. Yay, we're all dorks!
Edit: This is not to impugn the character of my D&D playing readers; but when hubby and I and a couple of other people were sitting around a table arguing about some obscure rule, I just had to yell "We're all dorks!" It was well-received. [end edit]
I found out that that raise is based on a 40 hour work week, so I'm not eligible for it until next year. Additionally, when I asked to go back to full-time, I was shot down because they don't have the slots. However, they said I could come in to work extra as much as I want (and they need me) since it's paid out differently. BUT because of some payroll fuck-up I may not get paid until January. I suppose I was getting too pleased with my employers. Bleh. Maybe I'll start donating plasma again. Hub is talking about taking on a 2nd job, like pizza delivery. I really hope it doesn't come to that. Just let's hope he gets a real job with any of the many agencies he's applied to, or to the insurance company. Bro told me there was about a month lag between when they get the app and when they call you in for an interview, so he still may be in the running. *hope, hope, hope*
On Saturday a few of us went to Kerrville, where one of my students lives, and visited her and had snacks. She lives in a 4-plex in the very nice area of town, which I'd never had a chance to visit when I lived there. It was fun seeing all my old stomping grounds- I lived there from about age 13 to 18, still coming back for the summers while I was in college until my mom moved when I was about 20. I still dream about moving back someday- it's a very beautiful area, though it's also quite conservative. So I would love the nature, but I don't know how well I'd get on with the populace.
The next day (yesterday) I woke up feeling all sweaty and nauseous and generally crappy, so I called in sick. I slept 'til noon, then just puttered around a little, doing laundry and stuff. We then celebrated Bob's birthday by cooking him some tasty chow, with Bean and Colin contributing. Happy 22, Bob! Friend Kirby turned 32, but had plans so we'll probably wine and dine her Wednesday.
