Someone here at work had a shower or a birthday or something, so there were a couple of half-full 3-liters of soda lying around the breakroom. One of them was Dr.B, a store brand that one assumes is supposed to mimic DrPepper. Now, I love DrPepper more than any other drink, so I tried it. Lo! It does indeed taste like DrPepper! Huzzah.

I also tried a mango. Hub bought them for me for lunch. I've never had a fresh mango, and probably never will again. The thing was confusing. I didn't know if I was supposed to eat the whole thing like an apple or peel it or what, so I decided to slice it up. The knife barely went through; I felt like I was trying to cut up a brick. I sliced my hand trying to cut the thing. And the smell! It had a nasty peppery smell that came from the peel. I finally managed to hack it apart, except for a really tough part in the center that may or may not have been a pit- I'll never know because I never saw a pit. The flesh did not come off of the assumed pit like it does in a peach or nectarine, so I just pitched a big gob of flesh that might've had a pit in it somewhere. I ate a few nibbles of the flesh, but the smell was revolting and I ended up putting it out for the birds to eat. Bleh. I want friendlier fruit, like prickly pears.

Your mango wasn't ripe. They should be almost squishy-soft when ripened, and then they're very, very sweet tasting and juicy and messy to eat. You can't eat the skin, BTW.

Thanks for the info- they should come with directions! I thought maybe it was like an apple; they're best when they're weapon-quality hard. Which this mango was. :P
