The house continues to be transformed. It's caused odd turmoil and emotional bouts from us both to have it in such disarray, but I look ever-hopeful toward the results. Bob tried to tempt us away with a Flipside camp-out in San Marcos, but we resisted valiantly. Besides, who the hell goes camping in Texas in July? A bunch of insane Flipside people I guess, but that's where my love of Nature is overcome by my love of air conditioning.

All three students have passed their Dedication tests, and the ceremony is set for 7/24. I am starting to believe that the place will not be ready by then, which means we may have to try to all crowd in the altar room upstairs. Thinking about it, there's just no freaking way. I don't know what I'm going to do. Maybe have it at Ellen's?

Dad called and told me he is set to move on 8/16. I, like a dumbass, asked if I could help. He wants me to drive one of their SUVs. Here's what this will involve: I take a bus to Eagle Pass (about 6 hours) Friday. They load stuff in cars and the moving van. Dad gets the car with the dogs in it, and I get the one with his wife in it, who just had back surgery and is in a lot of pain. We all drive up to Sweetwater Saturday, another 4-5 hours. Hub drives up to Sweetwater from Austin, and then we both drive back to Austin that night since I have to work Sunday. I am not really pleased, because I get the notion that Dad is asking me to do this so he can avoid dealing with his wife. Hub is none too thrilled about this plan either. I have requested to take that Sunday off so I'll either get to sleep in or we spend the night in Sweetwater and drive home the next day. This is one of those times where I wonder if doing all this crap is going to be worth the good karma or whatever. He is my dad, and I told him I'd help, so I feel stuck. That'd better be some really good karma. *frown, frown*

Oh, we looked for area rugs. We're having a difference of opinion about what size to get. Rug stores are definitely out. The first one we went to had some nice ones but running in the hundreds of dollars. The second was all hand-knotted wool whatever in the thousands of dollars. We may just have to go ahead and get it at Home Despot.
