Gordon came by the day after we'd gotten back, and gave me my Yule present. I felt bad, because we haven't really been exchanging Yule presents regularly and this year I decided not to get him anything. But he went all out. He got me a pendant I had been lusting after from C. Kirk Root. He checked with Eric before he bought it to make sure Eric was okay with some other dude buying his wife jewelry, and Eric never mentioned it to me so I was totally surprised. It's a white gold ring, with 16 channel-set sapphires in rainbow colors inside the ring. The bail is sort of an upside-down teardrop with three graduated white stones (maybe little diamonds) set in it. They don't have a picture online, but this comes close.
I was thunder-struck, and as you can see by the icon I've been digging the rainbow rocks for some time, though I think it gives people mixed messages. I already dress like a guy and I expect half the people at work think I'm a lesbian. Oh well, it would not be the first time, and the wedding ring keeps the hordes at bay, along with my hideous complexion. I caught a glance at myself in the bathroom mirror today, and I have dark circles under my eyes and I'm breaking out badly, probably a combination of stress, poor sleep, and bad diet. I know the fluorescent lighting isn't flattering, but I scared myself.
But anyway, back to the jewelry! I have it on a silver chain for now, because I don't have any white gold chains. Believe it or not, I have discovered that white gold is more expensive than silver. What a pain in the ass. I'm a little twitchy about ordering something online; I don't mind it for books and whatnot, but spendy jewelry is something else. I don't trust the ones on eBay that are going for $35. So I guess I need to find somewhere in town to get what I want (a 20 inch snake white gold chain, if anyone asks) and put it on layaway or card it and pay it off over a couple of months. Anyone have any recommendations? I figured I could hit a department store. I wish Mervyn's hadn't closed; they would have it on sale.
But, yay jools! Yay Gordon!
