It's amazing what a nap can do. I was slumped over at my desk and in a desperate bit of wishful thinking, I went to the unit schedule online, and discovered that no one was off in our unit. Calls were slow, and so I asked one of the nice supervisors if I could just take off early. I was able to get a good 3-4 hours of napping in, so I was wide awake when the Sun set, and I'm good to go for the rest of the night.
Eric gave me my Yule present. It doesn't sound super-romantic, but it's a light fixture for my computer room with cobalt-blue glass. I saw it at Home Despot and gushed over it a couple of weeks ago, and he noticed. He's also buying my next year of XM satellite radio, which I've enjoyed this past year quite a lot. Plus I got a gift certificate from eBay, which will be fun to spend since I'm a crack whore for the eBay.
Sadly, we got into a dust-up over his room, which he eventually managed to complete the floor of. He was going to clear all the stuff out of the living room and the front room, since these are both going to see heavy use in the ritual later today. He said he was mostly done when he decided to quit, by which he meant he had moved the big things, but left a zillion little things everywhere. This caused me to become wroth. So that sucked, but I think we managed to work it out before he went to bed. I've been wrapping presents and listening to music and making cds for my parents since then.
It's been a piece of cake so far. Gordon's coming over shortly; I don't know what we'll do then... maybe see if we can sneak into Zilker Park or find some other place to go for a walk.
