The last post reminds me of that bullshit that woman who was doing the overcome-your-fear-of-singing class was trying to push. The old Yoda saw about how 'there is no try'. There sure as hell is try. Reducing every endeavor to 'succeed' or 'fail' is a load of crap. There's a lot to be said of making an attempt and not reaching your stated goal; there's also the point that you can be in an ongoing process of reaching toward some goal that may never be reached. I try to embody certain virtues; I don't think I can ever say that I have 'succeeded' in this, in the sense that my work here is finished; I will always be trying. So, I fart at people who sneer at the use of the word try!
