Each person has all of the astrological signs in their chart, and is affected by each sign, depending on it's position (house), and emphasized by the presence of any planets in those houses.
Each sign has its opposite, which forms a sort of polarity, with the idea that these are aspects one might ultimately wish to balance within themselves. The Aquarius-Leo polarity is the area of attachment-detachment.
FYI the others might be characterized as:
Pisces-Virgo
Forest (universalism) -----------------------Details (trees...or perhaps sap on needles on branches on trees)
Aries-Libra:
Passionate Inspiration---------------------Balanced Relationship
Taurus-Scorpio
Practicality-------------------------------Mystery
Gemini-Sagittarius
Ideas/Information-------------------------Philosophy/Truth
Cancer-Capricorn
Fluid Emotions---------------------------Concrete Beliefs
These are very simplistic, of course, and there are perhaps other (and better) polarities found within each pair.
Anyway, this is related because I believe we need, as [someone else] said, to balance attachment and detachment in our lives. To be emotionally attached to *everything* brings on a lot of unnecessary angst/pain/drama/etc. (as this Triple Leo can tell you), but to be detached from everything, especially life, well, that defeats the very purpose of being a Witch, which is *connection.*
My UPG tells me this [no idea what a 'UPG' is] (it's mine, and I don't expect anyone else to share it): When we are out of our bodies, we have full awareness, and complete detachment. It is our desire to experience, to attach to life, to *feel* and to revel in that sensation, that leads us back onto the wheel. It is my thought that our souls want to experience everything that is, good and bad. We can "see" when we are free from our bodies, all that we have learned and experienced, and how much there is left to try. Therefore, we jump on the Wheel for another go-round.
Why would some souls choose a "hard" or "difficult" life? Well, with perfect detachment, the soul can see that such an experience will be valuable in the big picture. Why do we not experience things as fully or learn things as well as we might? Well, that's the filter of our humanity, our choices, and what we do with what we're given. I'm not saying our humanity is a weakness, at all. It is a blessing, but it is also an obstacle. Of course, as we know the obstacle occasionally *is* the blessing.
