The second day of the 2-day diversity class I'm having to take at work became less interesting and more work-related crap to endure towards the end. One of the really angry people made a comment about how all whites are given cars and have their way paid through college, and someone almost walked out. She also made some pretty disparaging remarks about the 'homosexual lifestyle' and white women who dated black men. I kept trying to think back when they asked us what our goal for the class was, and mine was 'sit through it so I can get credit for attending.' And I made it! Huzzah!
A friend from a child-free chat board I read came down through town on the way to visit her family last night, and we went to the Salt Lick for barbecue. It's way the hell in the next county and while it's good enough barbecue I suppose (I was never that big a fan) there were probably, oh, four hundred thousand barbecue places that were closer that would have been just as good. But Austin has gotten very green and flowery, so it was a nice drive, and I enjoyed talking with the friend, though we don't have very much in common. I got to meet her new beau, who seems like a nice guy. After we drove up and I called to see if Gordon was back- he's been west visiting friends since the beginning of the month, but now he's back. So we got together and caught up. He bought me a souvenir fridge magnet that looks like one of those sticky name-tags you write your name on that says "Hello, my name is Queen of the Fucking Universe". Tee hee!
Today we ate lunch with Kirby and I wanted ice cream (but I have no idea why I'm fat :) So we stopped at Baskin-Robbins again, and I eyed the Pathetic Lonely Single Chocolate but passed it by. One of my standard favorites is mint chocolate chip, but I was feeling adventurous. So I tried peppermint instead. Now, mint things should be green, or maybe white, possibly blue. But this was pepto-bismol pink. So that was weird. But it was very, very minty! Much more minty than the mint in mint chocolate chip. Extreme!!!! mint. Mint that was +1, +2 versus lycanthropes minty. Wow, that's a lot of mint. I think I liked it.
Oh, and we also popped by Half-Price and I asked the nice lady at the sales counter if
todfox was there. She just stood up straighter and yelled "Kiiiiiiiit!" He responded, and I followed his voice. We talked a bit but he was just getting on shift so I let him get to work. I picked up a copy of Bishop Spong's 'Rescuing the Bible from Fundamentalism', which I've always wanted to read. I like it already!
