Plans for New York continue. I will probably get a 7-day unlimited ride MetroCard for $24, which lets me ride on all buses and subways. I'm also thinking of getting a CityPass which gets me into a bunch of different things for $53; neither of these things may completely pay for themselves, but it's worth it for the convenience factor alone and plus it gives me some ideas of where to go. I'd been suffering from brain lock about that; all I knew was I was goona be in New York, dammit, and I wanted to see it. Specifics were not coming, other than the Metropolitan Museum of Art. But this pass gets me into the American Museum of Natural History- I love those places, and am really frustrated that Austin doesn't have one. We need a planetarium! I will probably spend most of one day there; I try to go see planetariums in any city I visit.

Brö has been kind enough to send me maps and links and even a picture of Central Park that he labeled. Here it is (click for a bigger version).

*snrk* I think Bro needs to become a cartographer. Or maybe a graphic designer for tourist books ;)

What a helpful, uh, map... :p

We got a CityPass when we went to Chicago, and that thing rocked... There were 6 places you could go (that we wanted to see anyway), and it paid for itself by the 2nd place. We were able to go to all the badass museums and stuff for almost nothing, since each of the admission fees were normally about $20 or so.

Aw, maaaan! She posted the picture I made! Now they'll never let me run for President because of my World Trade Center joke. :o)

And it was a very helpful visual aid, there, Mr. Hawt Smartypants Cub. I also sent a link to the current map of bus routes, and a .pdf of subway routes. I am the multimedia god.

Central Park is cool. Aside from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the big-ass reservoir, there's also the Central Park Zoo, and lots of other cool shit. And the Guggenheim is right across the street! I got chased around by a bee near the lower-left corner of that pic in 1995.
