Oh yeah- and tickets are purchased for New York. Other factors conspired that I was not able to find a flight I liked into LaGuardia, but there is a shuttle that runs from JFK to the hotel for $20 or so. I was about to buy off Travelocity, but then they wanted to charge me $20 to send me the tickets, no option for electronic check-in. So I went with the new Jet Blue (at least new to Austin) and got round-trip non-stop tickets for under $170. I even got to pick my seats. I printed off my ticket, and I should be good to go. I'll be leaving at 7am on Saturday, 1/21 and returning Wednesday 1/25 close to midnight. I'll miss Brö's birthday, which is a pisser, but I'll get him a souvenir of some sort to make it up for him.
After that I went over to L.L.Bean and bought some cold weather stuff. I got that coat back in November but I also needed some layers, so I bought some long underwear bottoms, a fleece pullover and a long sleeve shirt. I haven't had long underwear since I lived in Chicago when I was 10. That'll be a blast from the past. I contemplated several other travel dinguses but stayed sensible. I may send up a bag with Gordon since he's driving, to cut down on my luggage; I'll have to check with him to see if he's okay with that. Whatever it is it'll have to be stuff I don't mind not seeing for awhile, since he's going to be there for at least 3 weeks.
I got my necklace from Wearable Sculpture. It's really cool! It doesn't quite lay flat so it sits sort of like a planetary ring around my neck; but she probably had to flatten it to ship it and I may try to bend it a little. She also sent along the matching earrings I requested, one of which I promptly lost but found again on the welcome mat outside thankfully before some crow nabbed it. The necklace is sort of a special-occasion piece but the earrings I could wear every day. I think I'll wear the necklace for Dark Goddess; I think the most of our group will be able to go on 2/19. I think I've been every year they've had it, and I'm looking forward to seeing what they come up with again this year.
