austin_tycho: crater (Mintesque!)
I wasn't especially looking forward to lunch today. It was hub's leftover steak, rice and lima bean experiment from a couple of days ago. It was a pretty unappetizing color; the rice and beans were a uniform beige and the meat was a greyish-beige. It wasn't all that flavorful when he initially made it, so I figured I was stuck with Bland Lunch of Doom. But hark! What gustatory wonderment is this? As sometimes happens with leftovers, this improved in taste considerably. It was a marked contrast since the appearance went south, so I was completely surprised. If I were blindfolded and were to guess what the food looked like based on taste, the limas would be bright minty green, perfectly hitting that sweet spot between too toothy and mushiness (and I don't normally care for limas). The rice would have been gold with green herbs (dill, in this case), and the meat would've been a delicious dark reddish-brown, marinated and tasty. A bit of garlic salt made it perfect.
