I'm calmer now. *whew*
I had a bit of glory today... Dad sent me this wretched, horrible bit of right-wing propaganda that was written by some schmuck that thought to himself- 'I'll make this offensive, then attribute it to George Carlin, so it'll be OK!' So I get this crap, a bunch of stuff Carlin supposedly said about being an American. It attacks gays, minorities, Clinton, environmentalists, people on welfare, you name it. It's interesting, the ways in which the version I got differs from the version at the link above, but it's basically the same. Anyway, so I know George says controversial, alarming things, but siding with cops and defending religion are NOT things I think he'd do- he ain't a Republican, he's a lot more like a Libertarian, and there is a BIG difference. So I go to the website, and right on the front page is a statement saying he did not write this stuff.
I could have been an asshole and forwarded that to everyone Dad had sent it to, but I was nice and just sent it to him. Then he goes and does something reasonable by replying to me saying "Thanks, I thought that didn't sound like him." My Dad can be a jerk, but he surprises me sometimes.
