Winter is my favorite season, though fall is also my favorite season as well as spring. Basically, not-summer is my favorite season. But here is why I love winter.
It's cool. Sometimes, it's even cold. This is refreshing and nice to exercise in. You feel like you have to do more work just to keep warm, so that's good.
The stars seem to be very bright and lovely in the winter. It's not just because there are bright stars in winter- there are bright ones in the summer too. But the sky in the summer never seems really black- it's always a fuzzy dark brown or navy blue. The Full Moon is more golden in summer. In winter, the sky seems to be a true black, and the Moon a sharp silver. The stars are like shining crystals. It's beautiful.
The hot tub is a lot more pleasant to be in. Last night after walking around the neighborhood, I was feeling stiff and sore and got into the hot tub- oh, man, that was nice. And as I sat there, I saw icicles hanging off the roof, with moonlight shining through them. Captivating!
According to hub, I look cute when I'm cold. I think it's because my complexion is very pink, so when it's cold I look all rosy-cheeked. When it's hot I'm just flushed and sweaty. Winter weather agrees with me.
I love wearing winter clothes. Coats, gloves, scarves. I have a new hat I got several months ago that I finally had a chance to wear. It's made by taking old Indian silk saris and putting them through a wood chipper, taking the results and weaving them into yarn and making a hat. You'd think this would make for a fluffy light hat, but it's actually pretty heavy, and very warm. And it's got more colors than a kaleidoscope.
Snuggling up under the covers is fun. Having a person to snuggle with is great, but burrowing by myself is fun too. Plus the cats like to try to share btu's as well- either with the people or with each other, causing *squee* moments.
Of course, this is all assuming an Austin Texas winter; I realize they're different elsewhere. But I live in Austin, and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future, and so that's what I know. And like!
