Dear weather,
For fuck's sake! It's November! Quit it!

It was almost 90 degrees yesterday. When I go into the back yard I'm swarmed by mosquitoes. It's absurd. At least the Samhain ritual imagery focused more on the days getting shorter than on the cold winds from the north or whatever.
The ritual went well. Our Trad celebrates Samhain as being at the halfway point between the Fall equinox and the Winter solstice. Officially that happens Monday, but we celebrate it when it's convenient. In theory it's the first day of winter, but I've already groused about that. My favorite part was people sharing stories of their beloved dead. Pets, friends, but mostly grandma and grandpa stories. We cried a little, but mostly laughed long and loud. Oddly, everyone brought pretty healthy food. We've had rituals where everyone brings something covered with cheese or a dessert, but this one it was all fresh fruit and tabouli and salad. It's probably just as well.
I should not be up this early!
