So I got to sleep around 3am. And pounding on the door commences at around 8, oh yeah the window guys. Fortunately hub has taken the day off so he handles that. But oh noes, they are sawing with electric saws and hammering and doing other noisy manly things. And every time I try to nest somewhere to catch some sleep, they have to be in that room for some reason. I've been zombie-ing around the house all morning. I guess I might as well try to do some chores and be useful.
The windows sure look nice though. They're not anywhere near done, and even though they said "2-3 days" it's going to be a week. Again, die of heart attack from not-surprise- they're contractors.
When hub decided to replace the spa house with a plastic one, he noticed the place where it was up against the house was all chewed up by ants and weather. He has been able to replace the siding and everything, but we saw little grubby creatures while he was in there that sure looked like they could've been termites, but might've been some other kind of ant too- carpenter ants, possibly. Though personally the name is descriptive of the exact opposite of what they do- they should call them 'de-carpenter ants' or 'anti-carpenter ants' or '!carpenter ants'. But anyway the termite guys said it was pointless to spray for them if there were any places on the house where trees are touching it. While we had the trees trimmed a year or two ago, the durn things grew and are now providing an ant highway into our house.
A tree guy left a flier on our door and came to take a look yesterday. He's gonna trim off all the stuff touching the house, and trim the crepe myrtles, and clean out all the dead branches and junk out of the middle of our oaks and the cedar elm. And pull up some hackberries while he's out there. So that'll happen tomorrow sometime and the pest guys are coming by as well. It's a home improvement bonanza! Well, it's yard maintenance bonanza more accurately. I mowed the front and hub's weed-whacking the back as I type. Oh, and the pool looks stupendous.
Hub also found where a small egg-laying creature layed a nest of a dozen or two wee little eggs that had all hatched. The eggs were a little larger than a Tic-Tac. We're guessing lizard.
