Work seemed especially tedious this week. There was nothing about the specific job that bothered me, more the idea of just going to work overall. Why can't they just give me the money and I stay home? My dad got to hear me whinge about this when he asked how I was doing, and after making sure I wasn't being hassled by some on-the-job problem, he thought for a minute and said "huh- I think I've felt that way all my life." Which is funny, coming from the main goad to 'do something useful' in my childhood whose favorite saying was "idle hands are the devil's tools." Perhaps there is some genetic component at work here.

I emailed the local OTO guy, and he directed me to their Yahoo group and pointed me to a couple of 'OTO for Dummies' books which I'll pick up when my next paycheck shows up. Actually, I was a whore for a marketing company and got an Amazon gift certificate- now that I remember it, maybe I'll order them now. Woo! I've been trying to read 'The Book of the Law', and it's a start but it's rather cryptic. I guess that's part of the point, but even so.

We went to see mc chris at Emo's last night. They held it outside, since there was a much bigger crowd this go-around. We saw Michael ([livejournal.com profile] roninjedi, who did my icon you see here) and his squeeze- it's always cool to see someone you know at a big event like that (especially when they are cute and friendly). It's weird, I've never caught anyone else listening to or talking about mc chris, yet there were hundreds of people there last night.

It was a good show. He did almost his entire catalog, and even something he made up in a contest- a rap about Miles Davis, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and something else that eludes my memory. He's very entertaining. One minute he's singing about how he's knee-deep in pussy and the next how his most consistent paramour is a tube sock. He just seems like such a geek next door. There were a couple of times when he was walking around in the crowd before his show and if he didn't have his 'game face' on, grinning and yelling and whatall, he was practically invisible. He also had a Tri-Lam shirt on from 'Revenge of the Nerds'.

After the concert we did our now traditional post-concert visit to Player's and had a burger, then home to shag since hub gets lusty when he's been drinking. Tonight his sister and her spouse are coming over and hub's going to attempt to make Cuban sandwiches for the first time. He's got a pork roast going as we speak, and it smells pretty tasty. I've never had a Cuban before.
