I think Yansa somehow transmitted his sleep problems to me. Or maybe it was someone else; seems like a lot of folks have been having problems sleeping. Me, it was waking up several times right after weird dreams, going "weird- why did I have that dream?" and trying to go back to sleep. Suck.
In more pleasant news, I got me a nice ring. It's pretty and gold and has opal inlay and a big ol' lab created emerald, as well as a smattering of wee little diamonds. I saw it on eBay, and they have this reverse auction thing where the seller posts a 'suggested' price, and you make a one-shot offer, and they decide to accept it or not. I put in an offer that was about a third of what he wanted for it, and was pretty surprised that he went for it. But not displeased! It's a really nice ring, though it occurs to me that jewelry must cost a lot less to make than it typically sells for. He didn't size it before he sent it to me, and it does not fit well on any of my large German peasant sausage fingers except for the pinky. So I guess at some point I'll go find someone to embiggen it for me. I'm not pimpy enough to wear a flashy pinky ring.
I also got a really nice sapphire ring from him for cheap- also lab-created. That's okay with me, if you didn't notice, that they didn't have the armless children of Povertia dig it out of some godforsaken mine but made it in a lab out of old soda cans, or however that works. The color and clarity of the stones is quite a lot better than what I could afford otherwise. The seller is "shanersfinejewelryanddesign" if you're curious.
I heart google- I was able to figure out the censored phrase the Japanese ball player used on the clip Bob Costas showed in his interview on the Daily Show ("hotter than two rats fucking in a wool sock") and also to figure out a song I liked but did not know the artist or title. The song is "All For You" by Sister Hazel. I tried about a dozen times to download it on Kazaa, all from different sources, but each time it came up blank- it would show that I had downloaded a 3-5k file, but then when I tried to play it, it would play silence for about 5 seconds and then nothing. I went ahead and paid for it honestly through the iTunes store. Hopefully I haven't given my computer 12 cases of computer herpes or worse.

That's a common Stupid Kazaa Trick, from what I've encountered. I've seen tiny files with nothing, regular-sized files with nothing, and regular-sized files that play the first ~30 seconds of the song and then contain ~87 decades of jarring static after that...
