There are various games where you place the states, find the capitals, whatever. Brö initially pointed me elsewhere on the site to take the 'place the European countries' game. I probably did better than most Americans, but honestly there were some countries I'd never heard of. I think I would have done worse if I wasn't such an avid puzzle freak; you can figure out a lot by the shape of the country and looking at coastlines and rivers.
Anyway, for extra unintended weird sick fun, go to the state games. Pick "United States Geography Level 8 - Expert Geographer". Just hold down an arrow key and watch the state spin around like crazy. Imagine all the little people in the state screaming! It works better with states like Alaska and Florida... not so much for states like Wyoming or Connecticut. Brö remarked "Texas looks like it's made for spinning". Indeed it does! It's probably a good thing I am not a god.
