Help me figure this out.
Okay, so I love n, where n is a type of music that I don't know the name of. I think of it as 'desert wailing.' It's all over the Children of Dune series, and Sting had somelady dude doing it on "Desert Rose" (he's singing in Arabic, apparently- I found that much out). Paul Simon did it a little at the beginning of "You're The One." It's on Flesh and Bone's "Skeleton Woman", though no one probably has heard that one except for me. Is it Arabic? Egyptian? Moroccan? Middle Eastern? And what are some good artists I should check out? I could go trolling websites in languages I don't read and take stabs in the dark, but I bet someone out there knows more or less what I'm talking about and can help me out. I'm not sure if I like it by itself or if I just like how Western musicians incorporate it into their stuff, but I'll never find out if I don't even know what it's called.
