A year ago today, I had my hysterectomy. I've been reading my journal prior to that to put tags in, and noticing how much day to day misery I was living with. My health has been so much better since then- not having to worry about searing, terrible pain knocking me down for days at a time... I even gave away my Vicodin stash because I didn't need it.
It's ironic that a year ago, I started a quite pleasant six week vacation and today I'm scheduled to be at work for fifteen hours. I miss those days where I got to wake up whenever I wanted, take naps whenever I wanted, and just read, swim, and take it easy. It makes me wish I could retire!
Anyway, I am grateful that my surgery went as well as it did, especially when I've heard many stories otherwise. As much as I like to burn incense and chew roots and all that, I truly appreciate Western medicine today.
