It's been a fairly quiet couple of days. We played D&D Friday (Maugyn the Druid is finally reaching 9th level! Glee!) and not a lot else. Hub's on a cleaning/fixing tear. Yesterday we went to his mom's and got the frame for the futon, and put the stinky futon and it's frame out in the front yard with a "FREE! Take it!" sign. The frame went into the garage, with the mattress in the hallway- since we're planning to tile the room that formerly held the futon, we're going to try to avoid moving things into it 'til we finish the tiling. The mattress will go in my car for the camp-out next weekend. In Texas. In July. Yes, I am crazy.

She also gave us a mantle-type clock that's all marble and brass. It has pheasants, or Oriental phoenixes, and is all Art Deco. It was one of the first things I noticed when I first visited hub at his parent's place, so when she offered to give it to me, I grabbed it. She also gave me a large black urn/vase thing that had a peacock and flowers in abalone inlay. I found a place for that in the china hutch- though I cheated and put some stuff on top of it to make room. I don't use tea cups anyway.

The clock, a little less welcome. It's heavy as hell and hub is convinced one of the cats is gong to somehow knock it off it's current home on top of the TV. It also requires winding, and ticks rather noisily. I think it's quaint, but it's driving hub up the wall. It also appears to be losing about 10 minutes a day. Maybe I'll take it to work or something. It's pretty even if it's not especially useful.

Next we tackled the pool. He cleaned out the pool filter and replaced the sand, and I packed as much of it as I could easily scoop up and stuffed it in the holes under our fence where the neighbor dogs have been digging. Maybe it will turn into concrete, who knows. It was pretty nasty, and our pool has gotten a lot clearer since he put the new sand in. He also fixed the rungs on the pool ladder, and when Brenda came over to do some laundry we went for a bit of a swim.

We watched Comic Book: The Movie which had just about every voice actor in Hollywood, including the main voices from Futurama and the Animaniacs. And of course you had no idea who they were, except for Mark Hamill. They had a 'Behind the Voices' extra which was really amusing. They never once made fun of the fans, which is a nice change.

Today, after a breakfast with Gordon at the Original Pancake House before he goes off to his land, hub's been clearing out his closet. He has an assload of old computer parts that he's getting rid of (go here if that sounds interesting). He's already made one old Amiga nerd very happy. Monitors, keyboard, speakers- stuff that's been taking up closet space for years. I'm impressed with the stuff he's moving. Maybe someday I'll be similarly motivated, though I know I'm not there now.
