So what are we, a mile from the Sun? It may hit 100 today. Oh well, at least I'll feel like going to the lake again.
My energy has been really low. I know I'm working on a bunch of head-stuff, but I am not sure I should be feeling this tired. I was so bouncy in March and April, going to parks and whatall. Now I just want to stay inside and nap. It's entirely possible that in addition to the head-stuff there's also been pretty bad mold in the air (in the thousands, and I'm really allergic to mold) as well as smoke from Mexico setting itself on fire. Tres uncool, Mexico!
Even so, I went to Aziz and got pampered yesterday. Have I mentioned that hub got a bit of an inheritance from a distant childless grand-uncle? Hub plans to pay off a credit card with it, but there was enough to give each of us a couple hundred to play with. I was going to try to do the spa thing on a weekday, but for some reason they kept not being able to schedule everything I wanted to do on the weekdays but somehow it worked out for Saturday. This was okay, because hub decided to take his share and go buy a pistol he's always wanted. He and Paul have taken to going can-shooting on Saturdays lately, and he said he shot about 250 rounds for $10, and that's getting nice bullets- you can get crappy ones for even cheaper.
Anyway, with my share of the loot, I've gotten a decent hair cut, got my car cleaned inside and out (and sprayed with 'New Car smell', which I think I'll skip next time), and had my little spa excursion. I got the cat bath and the hour massage- I had a different lady this time, and I think I'll request the other one next time (if I can remember her name). This one did the salt first, didn't warm up the oil, and wore very noisy heels that clopped loudly on the tile floor every time she moved around the table. She also had a very loud, perky, aerobics-instructor voice. "DID YOU ENJOY THAT?" "yeah, thanks." "GREAT! I HOPE YOU FEEL BETTER!" "yes, yes.. please stop talking now."...but she did give a pretty decent massage. I had some time 'til the pedicure and walked around downtown and got some lunch. I didn't realize it was going to be a freaking inferno outside, and wondered if I was being especially wimpy when I was drenched in sweat after walking a block. I might have been wimpy, but it was also about 20 degrees hotter than I was expecting. Anyway, for the pedicure and paraffin treatment I got a nice older Vietnamese fellow, who didn't speak a lot of English, but we muddled through. I'd never had a pedicure before, and the guy did a pretty thorough job- it took about an hour and a half what with the sanding and scraping and poking with instruments and applying of lotions and things. He asked me to pick out a polish, something else I'd never done, and I had a moment of brain-lock. I finally ended up with something that I call 'hot chocolate bowling ball', a light pinkish-brown that ended up being really shiny and so looks a little low-rent, but it's the closest color I could get to my actual toenails so I was pretty happy with it. I also got a tasty alcoholic beverage and a calf massage with chocolate-smelling massage oil, so I give that a hearty thumbs-up.
