Yesterday was extreme D&D day. First was hub's game from 1 to almost 7. There were a lot of breaks for side chatting and such, but we still managed to make 2nd level. Hub seems to really enjoy writing this adventure, and it's fun to see him getting stoked about it. Then we went to Tyra and Dennis' place. We knocked a couple of times, no answer. A phone call- they had both been napping (and we were not early). Things eventually got rolling, and we finished up close to midnight. This was a one-shot adventure we were play-testing for Dennis, and it might be published someday. It was D&Dish, but included steam technology along with guns. I played a straight fighter, and she ended up finding a suit of power armor, like Ripley in Aliens had except steam powered, which was a weird combination. I was basically a 'Hulk SMASH!' machine all evening, which can be fun. I dunno that I prefer this world over a more purely fantasy one (I almost said 'straight fantasy', but you know what they say about those elves) but it's still amusing. This was also a high level adventure, and playing characters at high levels is quite a bit more complex- so I stretched my brain somewhat (and got some ideas for directions for my little low-level fellows too).
Today we've hung around the house and been all domestic. Hub did a bunch of yard work, I worked on the pool... we tried to plant some rosemary in the back yard, and hub hit a gigantic rock and could not find a way around it that wouldn't have put the plants in the shade. No wonder they'd charge us so much to put in an in-ground pool. So we ended up planting them in the front, and also fluffed up the area around our lavender and raked and swept some as well. It's looking good, and I am happy to say that the pool is in fine form as well. Oak catkin and tiny caterpillar season is finally coming to an end (though it means the pool bot is filtering larger caterpillars, which is pretty disgusting) and soon we will be able to swim.
