Aw, hell!

I woke up to an email saying that the camp-out I was greatly looking forward to, Io Pan Jam, has been canceled due to not enough people registering. No warning of this could be found anywhere- previously the site had said "hurry and register now because we're limiting it to 300!" which I guess was a wishful thinking ploy. I wonder how many people registered, if the price hike was what killed it, and other things. They seemed to have maybe 50 people tops last year, and I can't imagine it was less than that- but I don't know dookie about running an event like this so all my speculations are for naught.

I am just a very sad panda now. At least there is the Pallas camp-out, but someone else at work had already asked for that Friday off so we were gonna have to either go late that night or Saturday morning.

I'm sorry, we're all disappointed, but this is truly the best decision based on a lack not only of registrants but of people sufficiently interested to do the necessary work to make this thing go. Perhaps it, or something like it, will happen again in the future. I can only hope so.

I'm sure there are good reasons. I was on the Yahoo list, but I had no idea there was problems with numbers or help. I'll just hope for next year.

More details, please! I was going to skip IPJ because it was, unfortunately, the same weekend as Eeyore's. I have a possible campout on the weekend of May 15th, but I'd love to hear about more!

This other one I'm talking about is actually in DC - mercurialgirl has gone for years and always raves about it, and I have to be in NJ the following week, so I'm going to shoot for that. But I won't know if I can go until I see what's happening the preceding week. Otherwise, Rec Plant will do fine!
