Huh, it's been days since I made any kind of post. What have I been up to? I know you're all hanging on the edge waiting to find out!

Friday was hub's D&D game. It was one of those weird sessions where there's no combat, but a lot was done anyway. Houseguest Jason took that time to try out the float tank, and he seemed pretty amused by the experience in his very understated way. Man, that guy is so laid back it's a good thing he blinks. The pool pump was hit by lightning or something and we called an electrician, but he wasn't able to come out 'til Monday. This is a Bad Thing, it still being in the middle of oak-catkin-and-tiny-caterpillar season, and the pool was getting greener.

Saturday we did some home improvement shopping and puttered around. Hub went to play space invader games with his nerd friends, and Jason, Brenda and I went to Alamo and saw 'Sideways', a pretty amusing movie. The food was adequate, which is typical, but the fact that you can order it while watching a movie in a theater (and beer too) makes it a couple of notches better otherwise. We also went for Round Rock donuts, thus completing Jason's introduction to the wonders of our neck of the woods. He agreed that it was all cool, as far as I can tell, and bid his farewells that evening since he was going to leave at the crack of dawn the next morning. He was nice to have around; if we ever need to have a roommate to make the bills someday, I hope we get someone like him.

Sunday we slept in and did some painting. The French doors we had installed a few months ago were in need of paintage for some time- they arrived primed, so they managed to pick up a million smudges and stuff. We went with bright colors. The door itself is a deep royal blue now, and the trim is a nice emerald or golf-course green. We decided the wall around it (which isn's a lot of real estate, because it has a hole for the door and another for a large window) needed to be painted too, so we went with a bright turquoise.

Check out the icon there- the door is the darkest blue in the lower left corner, the wall is the lightest blue in the upper right with maybe a little more green to it; the trim is the brightest green of the leaves on the tree.

Maybe it sounds too technicolor, but I think it works well. First of all, I would because I love all these colors. Also, since the door has large windows in it like the wall, it's really not as much color as it sounds like. And it looks out onto the pool, which kind of ties it all together. It's just so much more interesting than beige. Even Gordon likes it, and he's got that sort of stereotypical gay fashion thing going. He did suggest doing the wall in peach or some other warm color, but when he actually saw it he pronounced it a success.

Yesterday I puttered some more and we did some touch-up on the door. The electrician came and refused to touch the pool pump but said if we took it out, he'd fix the outlet it had been plugged into which was also fried. I took the pump down to the pool place and they fixed it in under 15 minutes (sheesh). Then we called the electrician back, but they sent us another guy who really ganked us, but the thing got fixed at least and I was able to start the process of de-greening the pool. We went to see MC Chris in concert at Emo's and while it made me feel awfully old in some ways (I was older than probably 90% of the people there, and was also feeling tired of standing on the damn concrete floor surrounded my smoking pierced punks after not terribly long) it was a really good concert, very energetic, and I got to touch MC Chris twice! I'll never wash this hand again! After we went to Players for burgers and home for drunken shagging (just hub was drunk, don't worry) which is always fun.
