We have eaten out a lot this week. This just randomly happens sometimes, and it's not an awful thing, but I feel kind of guilty about it. I'm not sure why.
We have a houseguest, Jason, who is one of the folks from the mothership group from my Trad in Atlanta. Their High Priestess always lets me stay there when I go to Autumnfest, so when he mentioned coming here for a week-long solar energy seminar, I thought it'd be a nice thing to offer him a place to stay, especially since we have a whole room with a futon for him to live in. It has been nice; he's probably one of the more laid-back people I've ever hung out with. Plus he cooks the only seafood dish I will eat, a slab of salmon that is marinated overnight in maple syrup and a bit of soy sauce. He's around 'til Sunday or so.
Night before last we went over to Lauren's to have some pizza and watch a movie. Lauren has a whole fuckload of movies, so we watched Elektra- she'd just gotten and I think she mentioned she hadn't seen it since she bought it (but had seen it in the theaters). I hadn't seen it and had never read the comics. In fact, the only reason I was familiar with her at all was because of the parody of her in the Tick comics.
The movie was okay. Most of the men were really pretty to look at, daaaamn. There were a lot of bits that went unexplained in the movie which assumed either familiarity with the prequel or the comic (and I didn't find out 'til later that there was a prequel, Daredevil, which I also have not seen). It was a bit formulaic; set up conflict with a series of bad guys, hero defeats bad guys in order of least scary to most. Leave dark force behind bad guys in place for future sequel possibilities. I shouldn't expect much more than that from any movie based on a Marvel comic, I imagine. But it was nice to look at, and the company was fine.
Yesterday I snuck out of work early to go with Kirby to Tea House. Then home to slow cook her in the hot tub for awhile and help unkink her back a little- more good conversation was had. She headed home and hub and Jason and I soaked for awhile longer and talked about solar water heaters and windmills and various other plans he and John have had to get rich quick while saving the planet. Then I went to sleep and had some weird, unpleasant dreams that I can't remember any details from. I'm feeling sort of disoriented and weird today. I hope I can shake that off.
FYI, LJ spellcheck does not recognize 'houseguest', 'Autunmfest' or 'fuckload.' I think I sense a theme.
