Okay, not you. I woke up at, I dunno, 7 or so when our houseguest left. He has to be on the other side of town by 8 or 8:30, and so I will need to get used to that. Since I couldn't get back to sleep, I whiled away some time chatting on the phone and catching up on email and LJ and such. After lunch I decided I might as well do something useful, but wasn't feeling quite as energetic as I have been- maybe because it feels like the humidity has increased substantially. But I persevered and bought rosemary plants as well as had a key made for the houseguest. Next I went to 3 different stores looking for altar tables. Right now I have those $6 tables that are made of a round piece of particle board and 3 screwed-in legs. The cats jump up on these and knock them over on a pretty regular basis, and I know I've seen versions of these same tables made with a little box that has a shelf in it. They had one at one place, but I needed to get 4, so I kept looking until I got too frustrated to continue. Traffic was bad everywhere I went. I've also had annoying communication things going on, and I found a flea on Bolt.
Since the cats are inside cats, this bodes ill. Any one of us might've brought a flea in on our clothes, but if I saw one on Bolt (who has long, very thick fur) it probably means he has 400,000 or so where I can't see them, and the other cats either do as well or will soon. So I called the vet and found the scoop on Frontline Plus, which has worked very well in the past. And since I have to treat them all at the same time, it's going to cost close to $70. But I will cough it up, because in addition to being allergic to fleas I'm also near-phobic of them and other bloodsucking bugs. I would have made a rotten medieval peasant between the fleas and the leeches and the bedbugs. But it's only the 4th and I already feel nickled and dimed to death. No one sells the filters for the cat waterer in town for less than $9, and I couldn't find anywhere online that sold both the Frontline and the filters. So I'm out postage from 2 different places- it still ends up being cheaper than anywhere in town, but not by very much.
Anyway, I have no big reason to be, but I just feel crabby and irritable and anti-social right now. Oh, I also saw wife of old friend in the store, and when I stopped to talk to her she got this look like she wanted to bolt. It was hard to say whether this was a "Oh crap, I'm introverted and someone I don't know very well is trying to chat with me!" look, or a "Oh crap, it's Stacy and I don't want to talk to her!" look. She said "We'd love to get together again!" but her body language conveyed the exact opposite. It wasn't the most confidence-inspiring interaction.
Bah, I'm gonna go read or something.
