I work 10 hour days. But I'm helping out with the training unit, and they work 8 hour days. The training boss told me when I finish a day of training, I can either go back on the phone for 2 hours, or go home, and take 2 hours of leave. Training is draining (!) and so I usually go home, but sometimes not depending on how I was feeling at the time.
My regular boss decided he didn't like this and asked me to request leave that he would approve before I could duck out, meaning I would have to decide at the beginning of the day what I wanted to do, or more likely at the beginning of the week. Well, fine, whatever.
So (I knew this would happen) I was scheduled to train today, so yesterday I requested 2 hours leave for this afternoon and got it approved like a good girl. I'm on the leave calendar. Then this morning the training boss said she didn't need me after all. Before this extra hoop my boss made me jump through, I would have stayed the 10 hours. Now if I want, I can just bug out 2 hours early. I'm trying to decide if I should. Maybe I'll see how the call volume looks and decide then.
