austin_tycho: crater (Hello Cthulu)
So I drove home, and got more nauseous, and though everyone always says "just puke, you'll feel better!" I was never able to manage that and hovered just on the side of not being able to. Barring forced vomit action with kung-fu grip the second-best thing is often to try to sleep it off. So I had some very vivid dreams which I don't remember, of course, and made myself wake up at 8. I felt right as rain. And now I'm awake, and will probably be able to get 4 hours of sleep at best before I would have to get up and go to work. I'm not sure I want to put myself through that, and I did happen to not use up as much sick leave on my last day off on account of it being Texas Independence Day.

Last night because of the wonderment of Netflix, we saw 'Spiderman 2'. Gosh, am I glad I didn't really spend any money to see that one. Subtle as a brick through your window. I feel like a big dork saying it, but I'm spoiled by my Joss Whedon-rich diet, where you often think you see plot points coming a mile away, and then end up totally surprised. S2 was a bouquet of blatant obviousness. Hub and I actually laughed out loud at a few inappropriate parts. No, we're not becoming film snobs (now boarding for Harold and Kumar) but they could have been a lot less transparent without too much effort. Hub called it 'summer blockbuster syndrome', as I recall.

Sam Raimi never has been much of one for a complicated storyline. They're sometimes fun to see once or twice for the special effects or cinematography, but that's about it.

I've heard rumors that the next X-men movie might be directed by Joss Whedon. Verrrrrrry interesting!
