I just found out that Dad is going in for heart surgery Saturday. I don't think I'd started this journal yet when he had a heart attack last year, but it was a relatively mild one (as they go) and required the balloon thingie towards the bottom of one of his coronary arteries. After that he quit smoking (which he'd been trying to do for years and years) and continued to eat well and exercise up to 2 hours a day. He has always been a 'jock' like that. But he had some serious angina yesterday and they're not sure what's going on. They think it's the same artery, and possibly some other ones clogged up. He's going in for another balloon thingie, but if that doesn't work they're going to have to do open heart surgery. :(
Eric got a new job, a temp one his headhunter-pimp found him where he's making twice what Nerdz paid him. It's like a 2 minute drive from here too, and it's back to the same dot-com attitude of no slacks, beer on Fridays, and like that. It's one to two months. He seems pretty happy about it, and there's a chance it may become a permanent job. This is a happy thing; money won't be so tight and things like fixing the pool liner (the work for which began today, finally) won't kick our ass. It's a good sign, at least- he hadn't heard from his headhunter-pimp for over a year. Perhaps the economy is starting to pick up again.
Next big project- taxes. We have all our W2s or whatever they are. But the very nice tax lady who got us over $3000 last year wants to see credit card receipts, utility bills, and a whole shitload of stuff that will take several hours of digging and sorting. I suppose that's what I'll work on tomorrow.
