We had a power surge at work, and I lost a huge entry. My, was I pissed. Yes, I know if I wrote my entries in (some other method other that what I was doing) that would have never happened. *pthbpbpbpbp*
Anyway. Sunday was going to be nice and slow; Kirby called and invited me out to East Side café for brunch. I was looking forward to blueberry blintzes as I got dressed, and the phone rang. Mom calling, wanting to thank me again for her presents and ask about Brö. I’m gonna put this in another entry; it gets complicated.
So. I had my blueberry blintzes and enjoyed them thoroughly, and had pleasant and interesting conversation with Kirby in very close quarters; I wonder if any of our neighbors overheard anything freaky. Come to think of it, this is Austin so probably not. Hub and I frisbeed some in the park, and went to Lauren’s for the New Moon hanging out session.
She had this Donkey Kong Dance-Dance-Revolution for lazy people with bongos game. You have these little bongos that have a wire that goes into the game console, and the screen shows various symbols that show you which bongos to hit, rolls, clapping, and all that in time with various songs. You can play alone or jam with others, and can play cooperatively or competitively. Turns out that summer playing doumbek with the bellydance troupe did me pretty well for this game; I knew that would pay off someday. I even played along with a song that had a high difficulty rating and scored quite well. In addition to my former experience, it helped that it was a song I love (“The Impression That I Get”, a fast song with a fair bit of syncopated rhythms in it). They had lots of kiddie songs, and lots of grown up songs too (“Shining Star”, “Whip It”, “Rock Lobster”) so you know, fun for the whole family.
Then we watched ‘Napoleon Dynamite’. I’ve heard it’s one of those movies you either love or hate. So to be difficult, I didn’t love or hate it. I found parts of it funny, but it was also kind of creepy and overdone in some ways. So while I’m not going to rush out and buy the dvd, I’m glad I saw it.
