I remember, when I was in 4th grade maybe...
We were in the class where you learn about other people; maybe they called it history, or world studies, or something like that. We had this textbook and there were lots of pictures in it since we were 4th graders after all. One section had several pictures of different houses. Palatial houses, humble houses, houses in cities, deserts, and forests. For some reason the teacher asked us which house we would like to live in. I remember the other kids pointing to the palatial houses and saying 'I'd sure like to live there!' I clearly remember a picture- it was an aerial picture of a hut of some kind in the middle of a jungle or rain forest. There was a broad greenish brown river nearby, and just this one little hut surrounded by trees... nothing else; no roads, no people, just trees and river. I raised my little 4th grade hand and said 'I want to live there.' The teacher said something like 'which one again? That little shack in the jungle? Really? Uh, well, OK...' and moved on to something else. What a strange little kid I must have seemed like.
