Yesterday we celebrated my brother's birthday with the fambly though his real birthday isn't 'til Wednesday. Mom was able to make it down on the weekend. I wish Bro lived closer; he's a hermit and never comes to visit me, and I can't visit him that often because we live so far across town- it's like 20 miles. Well, whine whine whine, but still. I also tried to talk Mom into moving to Austin in case the company she works for goes tits-up- I found out that I make about the same as she does, and I know she could do this job easily. She doesn't relish the idea of living in a big city, but she likes the idea of living closer to us since we'd all see a lot more of each other, so she may be tempted. I guess I'm just lazy and wish all my friends and family lived on my block.
Last night we watched 'Monkeybone' on pay-per-view. There were several times watching it when I was laughing so hard I couldn't breath; and the reviews of it were pretty bad from what I can remember. Either I'm seeing something they missed or I just have terrible taste, but I thought this movie was hysterical. Better than 'Joe Dirt', which I am actually ashamed to admit liking. Talking to Bro and his best friend (one of those intellectual reclusive types) I realized that I like TV more than many smart people. Of course, I can say I only like good TV, but since I like some sitcoms ('Bernie Mac', 'Titus') as well as just strange stuff ('Space Ghost' and the rest of the 'Adult Swim' stuff on the Cartoon Network) we could even argue that, as much as one wants to argue about opinions.
I really hate commercials though. If they all went away forever, the ones on the radio included as well as billboards, sponsorships, print ads, etc. I think we'd be that much closer to Nirvana.
