So, giftmas is coming up and I am trying to get all my shopping done. I have limited funds, and am having a block about what to get my spouse.

I got him a huge expensive present for his birthday as you may recall. I don't have a lot of money to spend on him, so I'm trying to decide what to do. He said that I don't have to get him anything, and probably means it too, though it would still feel kinda lame. There's a place that sells fruitcake that he really likes, but, you know, fruitcake? That lacks a certain element of coolness. He also likes booze (a nice port or perhaps some Bombay Sapphire), but giving consumable presents seems, I dunno, kind of half-assed. I fully own my personal weirdness about gift-giving that might not apply to him at all, but I hate to grill him about it. So give the hamster in my brain a break and tell me what to do.

They make a good Port, with grapes picked by yours truly. They do a harvest fest every year, and I try to go to help out with the picking and the eating. Unfortunately, they are not allowed to ship out of state, but if you were interested, I could pick some up and ship it to you.

Apparently, they've just started doing a vodka. I'm going to go over there tonight to check it out. It's nice to have a very good winery up the road from me.

Good idea! It looks like their port goes for $25. I would be really interested in doing this. You really picked the grapes? Email me at mielikki at austin speck rr speck com... thanks!

You can never go wrong with a good bottle of consumable liquid. IT's about the experience right? You can drink it together and make good memories. :D

COLLIN STREET BAKERY IS AWESOME! Speaking of such things, I have not gotten my fruitcake from them yet this year. My mom sent me one last year and man, a WHOLE fruitcake to myself. It was blissful. We've had a CSB Fruitcake every year since I can remember.

And yes, Flaghill Winery makes good stuff. I've never been able to go to their wine harvest-n-stomp, but maybe next year. Their strawberry and plum wines are really nice. A couple friends of mine had their wedding there, too.
