Hub and I got up to get ready to go off in different directions; Gordon and I were going to visit the gem and mineral show, and hub and friend Paul were going to shoot rifles at a local range. I pinged Gordon and somehow we all ended up eating at the Original Pancake House. I had my usual cherry crepes, but hub tried something called the Irish Omelet (I think); a massive construct of eggs wrapped around a big ball of corned beef hash and cheese. He still has some of it in the fridge.
We went our separate ways. Once at the show, it quickly became obvious that Gordon is a much, ah, brisker shopper than I. I like to take my time and so we split up. I was able to find a couple of bargains- some malachite stud earrings for $3, a little silver ring with leaves and an acorn for $6, and a present for Brö. I ran into several people I knew- David and Renee, Susan (sans Matt), and Sheena and her sister.
I was trying to decide between two items when Gordon found me and told me he needed to go soon. I asked his opinion, and he haggled with the guy and brought the price down so that I could buy both. Yay! One is a silver bracelet with round cabochon stones in a rainbow- garnet, carnelian, citrine, peridot, apatite, iolite, and amethyst. I also got a pendant and a necklace to put it on. The stone in said pendant is one I'd never heard of- kyanite. It's a clear royal true-blue color. Not the washed out blue or teal of blue topaz, or the greenish-blue of apatite or aquamarine, or the navy or cobalt blue of iolite; it's what my mom calls Maxfield Parrish blue. And some of it's banded like fluorite but in blues... very nice stuff! According to the crystal fairies, it never needs to be cleansed and automatically clears the negativity off anything it touches. Well, isn't that special! I just like it 'cause it's blue.
Gordon rushed us out and was rushing me home when his appointment called like 5 minutes before they were supposed to meet and canceled. Gordon was highly pissed and I tried to cheer him up. He asked if he could come along with hub and I as we took Brö and Tom on a Costco adventure. They had never been. As hub and Paul were cleaning their guns, Brö and Tom showed up and seemed agreeable to having Gordon along. Of course, the minute we entered the Costco he disappeared with Brö and Tom and though we saw each other a couple of times, Gordon whisked them away again before I could check with Brö and see if he didn't want a more sedate tour. Of course, 'sedate' and 'Saturday shopping in December' are pretty tough to pull off. But we met up outside the store, just in time to discover Costco booze- a little adjunct store that had a pretty decent variety of ports and other sorts of hooch for pretty good prices. We didn't get anything but are keeping it in mind for the future.
We arrived home and everyone else took off and we spent the rest of the evening unwinding- paying bills and soaking in the hot tub. It was a pretty hectic day and I was really relieved to be off my feet and surrounded by mostly quiet.
