Brenda, hub and I went to the Empty Bowl project on Sunday. I managed to get out of work for a few hours so I could go, and this is like the 5th year I've gone. We arrived around 15 minutes before they started letting people in and the line was already pretty far down the block. We stood around and chatted for awhile, and listened to some kid (like, pre-teens, some of them) rock band. We found out that there was a six bowl limit instead of the aforementioned two, but they were $15 apiece rather than $15 for one or two for $25 like it's been every year so far. Someone needs to fire their web person. I decided on 2 bowls, one mostly white but with dribblings of pink and purple glaze around the rim, and another small white one that was turquoise on the inside of the bowl, and had 'My cup runneth over' stamped on the rim. Yeah, it's from those bloody Psalms, they're so depressing, but I always associated that specific phrase with bounty and joy. Hub and Brenda were amused. Brenda got some nice big bowls (vaguely triangular seemed to be in vogue this year) and hub got a big cereal bowl done in a nice rich brown glaze that seemed to have many layers to it, and a Greek spiral pattern in the rim. Soup was had- in my case, a poblano corn chowder that was tasty if surprisingly a bit bland. There was also bread and brownies.

In other foodie news, I tried the new cherry vanilla DrPepper. It tastes close to the cherry DrPepper I sometimes get at Sonic, and also pretty close to the no-longer-made Red Fusion. I give it a thumbs up. At the same time, hub tried some Pepsi Holiday Spice. It tasted to me like a combination of Pepsi and ginger ale. I give it a less enthusiastic thumbs up; I wouldn't have pegged it as 'holiday' but it's definitely 'spice'.

I thought that you would like this.

Happy is the man who loves the woods and waters,
Brother to the grass and well beloved of Pan;
The earth shall be his, and all her laughing daughters.
Happy the man.
