I did that wake up super early for no reason thing again today... well, since I was up anyway, might as well get a breakfast taco. So I visited Donut 7 and wrote in LJ and surfed the net and paid some bills. I did a candle inventory and discovered I was out of white candles so I planned a Candle Factory run. Meanwhile, back in the exciting world of mortgage refinancing, I noticed the big packet of crap to sign that the bank had sent- hub didn't sign it before he went to work. I planned to pop by, but it turns out that he was able to use that to avoid having to go to a lunch with a bunch of marketing people and come home for lunch. Signage occurred, and I was off to the bank.
We needed one more thing filled out, but we're still on track. I also got to chat with mother-in-law, who is back with her girlfriend again even though she moved out. She said she was 'stuck' in her lease, so I guess she means it. Eh, whatever makes her happy, I guess. But it was nice to see her and yak. Hub's close to 10 years younger than I, so she's about 10 years older than I am and we can talk like friends- I appreciate that. Next, candle shopping.
The Candle Factory is a swell place if you like candles, candle holders, candle snuffers, crap that decorates candles, and the mix of about eight skillion mostly artificial scents in the air. It gives a lot of people a headache. I fortunately am not one of them, so I can browse at my leisure. However, my nose goes off-line in self-defense after about 5 minutes. Since I purchased over $10 worth of candle swag, they offered me a choice of free votive scent of the month- black cherry or 'trick or treat'. I couldn't smell either one, and wondered what 'trick or treat' smelled like. It was orange- so perhaps a combination of candy corn and a flaming bag of dog poo. I had no way of telling. The nice man at the counter said it was a 'vanilla citrus' scent and since I had brought in a big bag of boxes to return (I buy dozens of tapers at a time, and had amassed a large stockpile of candle boxes that I was glad to get out of my closet) he gave me a couple of each scent.
Tonight is D&D. It's been awhile. Hooray for nerds!
Oh- and my State Farm guy is cool. When they discovered that the guy on my car insurance was the same guy who had house insurance with them, they realized that we'd been due a multi-line discount, and backed it up to when we first bought the house. So hub got a check yesterday for the house discount, and I got a notice stating that I didn't have to pay car insurance this month plus a check for the rest. That was sure unexpected and some good customer service. If you want insurance, call Bennie Council at 454-4524. Did I mention I didn't have to pay anyone or do anything to get a chunk out of my windshield fixed? I just called then and they sent a guy here to fix it and it didn't cost me a thing. I wish Blue Cross was like that.
