...if you were so inclined.

I had thought yesterday was not gonna have much to it, but it ended up pretty packed. I went to visit Kirby for lunch and bead time, and ended up spending most of the day with her which is nice. I think lake time is about ready to go away for the rest of the year, so we will have to find another excuse to hang out.

We went to Curra's for lunch- a place she eats at all the time. I'd never been, which is weird because I've lived here for many years and I've hit a lot of the restaurants north of the river by now. It was pretty tasty- I still think I prefer Antonio's but I enjoyed it. It was Tex-Mex with a bit of interior Mex thrown in. Conversation was excellent. We continued and returned to her place, and much beading madness ensued.

I had a necklace of rainbow beads (stone, glass, and other materials) that was 2 rainbows long with a Sun-Moon pendant in the middle. Both rainbows started with the red going out from the pendant, if that makes sense. So I switched one of them, because the cool end of the rainbows (greens, blues and purples) were hidden behind my neck. This way you get to see the whole thing. I already liked this necklace a lot, and now I like it even more.

The other was a string of malachite beads I'd gotten from Natural Treasures (which is opening a shop up north- hooray!) that were strung on fishing line and with little plastic beads for spacers. Nuh-uh, honey. For all that, they are wonderful beads- ranging from maybe the size of a pea to the size of a... uh... really big pea? A chickpea, yeah. They aren't perfectly round either; some are more sort of a squashed shape, like a doorknob. But they feel very heavy and stone-like and I like 'em. Oh, they also had one of those horrible clasps that you're supposed to screw together- I hate those.

So anyway, I was going for an Aphrodite vibe. Since malachite is copper-based that association always seemed to work for me. I strung it with alternating copper beads and seed pearls- those oblong little guys that look sort of like pearly Rice Krispies. Then I remembered that I have a couple of things I'd gotten at various gem and mineral shows in my little dragon hoard. There was one strand of little oblong black pearls, black in that purple-grey sense. I also had another of teal-colored pearls and a pendant of Mount St. Helen's obsidian, aka helenite, a teal-colored stone that yes is man-made but still very pretty. I thought about various ways of combining all these but decided the teal stuff was too close to the color of the malachite but not close enough, you know? Maybe they can get their own necklace together at some point. I still may alternate the white and black pearls in a yin-yang kinda thing; I didn't finish the necklace so I could play with some different options and see what I like best.

It was time to get ready for class so I headed home and went over the notes. I didn't have a lot to add to this one, and class went better than I expected considering it was a little thin on material- but everyone had experiences they wanted to share, so that was cool. Then Gordon took us out to dinner. He was distant and quiet, which was eerie since he is usually a very boisterous dinner companion. Oh well, I think the weather is affecting everyone like that a little. You know, I haven't been able to stay up past midnight for a couple of weeks, it seems, which is really strange for me. Of course, I woke up at dark-thirty yesterday and today, so go figure.

I've also been drinking a whole lot of water too, a lot more than usual. I feel like I'm trying to get something out of my system, but not sure what. I feel fine otherwise, aside from the afore-mentioned blues. Hmm.
