Kirby decided to go to the lake after all on Friday, so we slathered up in suncreen (I hate that stuff! I don't like the way it feels or smells) and hit the road. We listened to the new radio station on the way, BOB 103.5, which promises to be a lot better than the narrow niche stuff they have now (and the 8 zillion commercials), so I shall hold off on satellite for now.
The lake was fairly still (especially compared to last week) but the cool weather we've been having is making itself known- Kirby got chilled and had to get out. I am more insulated than she is, but even I could tell that it was quite a bit cooler, especially when I stopped swimming around. But it was still a really beautiful day and I enjoyed myself. I took her home and cleaned house a bit so we could play D&D that evening. I got my character up to 7th level. Woo-hoo! And the geeks all shot their phasers up into the air.
We spend most of the day yesterday hanging out, playing with D&D stuff and I played with my perfume oils some more. I mixed up BPAL's 'Omen', which is a great smell, but seems to fade way too quickly. I also mixed up a ton more Pan, and made some anointing oil (just cut it with a carrier, in this case sesame) for more ritual purposes, and a spray for more casual use. I forgot to mix the oil up well with the alcohol before I added the water, so now it separates beautifully which means I have to shake it up before each use. Oh, well.
I also tried making the Scorpio blend. It takes a whole lot of musk, plus a little each of patchouli and cardamom. I was not familiar with that scent (usually encountered in Indian food) and couldn't smell it for some reason when I purchased it, but it's overwhelming in this blend. It's interesting though; I had several people smell it and got reactions ranging from 'yuck' to 'ooh, nice!'... one even said it smelled 'minty' which is bizarre. I also keep hoping once everything has a chance to mingle that maybe the other scents will make an appearance, but I'm probably going to have to declare that one a wash. Maybe Ellen will like it, she is a Scorpio and she loves spicy food.
Hub and I went to Lauren's and watched some very cute and entertaining anime ('Magic Club' or somesuch) and had pizza. That made 3 nights in a row of pizza. I am now officially sick of pizza. But it was fun to hang out with everyone. She seems to like hostessing these informal get-togethers, and I hope she keeps having them.
Speaking of Ellen, she and Gordon and I and a couple of others are getting ready for the Autumnfest camp-out in Georgia. My original plan was to leave Wednesday, and haul my butt all the way to Atlanta in one day. That's certainly do-able in pleasant weather, but...

I'm starting to think that it would be a bad idea to drive 90 miles an hour while tired in a hurricane, so I may caravan with Ellen who takes 2 days. I'm also wondering what the campsite's going to be like. Ellen has already gotten a room at a nearby motel, and Gordon is thinking of doing the same thing. I may end up being Guy on the Couch in their rooms if they'll have me (or get one of my own if it's cheap enough- but it's already going to cost a lot of my September money to get out there and back). We shall see.
