From Hill Country Lavender-

Hello:

We've survived the summer and if that weren't reason enough to cheer, we also have several special events coming up for the fall. First up, our plans for September, including a lavender oil festival, Saturday Sept 18 (with a brunch and aromatherapy seminar) and a lavender oil sale in the store now through Sept. 19. See below for details.

My next e-mail will give the dates and details for our lavender growing seminar at the end of October, which many of you have expressed interest in.

Hope to see you soon. Many thanks for supporting our lavender farm--

Jeannie Ralston, Hill Country Lavender

Labor Day Hours In addition to our regular weekend schedule, we're open Labor Day--Monday, Sept. 6, from 10-4.

Lavender Oil Festival, Sat. Sept. 18th We've just distilled our first batch of lavender oil from our flowers, and we're celebrating with a festival on Saturday, September 18th. We will be offering an aromatherapy seminar and a glorious lavender buffet brunch with chamber music under our shady, majestic live oak that sits in the middle of the lavender field.

Our splendid menu: lavender peach oat muffins, lavender scones with lavender butter and raspberry jam on the side, fruit salad with candied lavender pecans, frittata with chicken apple sausage and lavender, strawberries with lavender cream, lemon ginger tea cake with lavender cream cheese frosting, lavender lemon cookies, citrus lavender punch with lavender raspberry ice cubes. Coffee and lavender red bush tea.

Lyn Belisle, a certified aromatherapist from San Antonio, will be here to conduct a lavender oil seminar, in which she will discuss the qualities and the wide variety of uses of lavender oil. Belisle earned her certification from the well-known Pacific Institute of Aromatherapy in 1989 and been presenting workshops and classes ever since. In addition, Jeannie Ralston, one of the owners of Hill Country Lavender, will talk about the distillation process and will show the distillation equipment to anyone who is interested following the brunch.

All those who sign up will receive a gift basket that includes one ounce of our oil, a light bulb ring that can be used to heat the lavender oil and a choice of one of our six varieties of lavender soap. Guests will also receive 10 percent off the lavender cookbook, from which most of the recipes for brunch came from, and prizes will be given away during the event.

The brunch begins at 10:30 a.m., when the weather is still cool. Belisle will begin her seminar at 11:30.

Price: $45 per person; $20 for children ages 4 through 12
(for kids under 4, please bring their own meal)

Advance reservations and payment required. Fee refundable until September 10th, minus a $5 processing charge. Limit: 50 people

Brunch and seminar will take place rain or shine. Please be aware that the lavender is not currently blooming, but the field and the property are still gorgeous from all the rain.

Visit our website, www.hillcountrylavender.com to make reservations or call 830-833-2294.
