Final Pathologic Diagnosis
Endometrium (morcellized specimen): Prominent pseudodecidual reaction with inactive-appearing glandular pattern; no hyperplasia, atypia, or malignancy identified.
Uterine Serosa: Subserosal leiomyoma.
Myometrium: Adenomyosis.

Gross Examination
Received in formalin labeled "uterus" is a morcellated uterus consisting of eight fragments of tan-pink rubbery tissue.

Uterine Weight/Dimensions: The tissue collectively weighs 137 grams and measure 15.0 x 14.0 x 3.5 cm,

Uterine Serosa: The focal areas of serosa are tan-pink to hyperemic, smooth and glistening. There is a 0.3 cm subserosal nodule. This nodule has a tan-white, whorled cut surface.

Endometrium: There are focal areas of tan-red, glistening tissue possibly consistent with endometrial tissue.

Myometrium: The myometrium is tan-pink, trabeculated and is notable for a 0.3 cm tan-white myometrial nodule. This nodule has a whorled cut surface. There is a 0.6 cm intramural cyst containing a red-brown hemorrhagic fluid. No other mass lesions are identified.

Microscopic Examination
(A) reveals focal nodularity consistent with a small subserosal leiomyoma.

(B-F) reveals prominent pseudodecidual reaction consistent with birth control pill effect. The endometrial lining otherwise is somewhat inactive-appearing. There is no hyperplasia, atypia, or malignancy identified.

In (G) there is adenomyosis. The cystic area noted grossly is in an area of adenomyosis.

(H,I) reveal additional foci of adenomyosis. There is no malignancy identified.
