Yesterday ended up being full of social engagements, for us.
Gordon called when we were in 'naked cartoon watching wake-up mode' and said he was going to the newly opened Apple store in the mall on the south end of town. Hub was immediately interested so I wrangled an invitation, we got dressed and hurried over. Gordon then drove us all to pick up his friend Dave and we headed south. Dave was a very cheerful and funny guy and I enjoyed talking to him. He even knew Brö through some bear social function. When we got to the mall, there was a line wrapping around the 'block' at the entrance to the Apple store. Hub apparently hates waiting in lines more than anything, so while Gordon and Dave stood in line we just milled around. Gordon bought Photoshop and he and Dave both got free tshirts.
I guess I was used to lines from going to UT for 4 years, but I understand hub not wanting to waste time. He may go with his dad some evening after the crowds have died down. We poked around in a few stores and I bought yet some more clothes from the fat chick store (I had been previously thinking I need to beef up certain aspects of my wardrobe); a skort thing and a black button-down shirt to replace the one I splashed chlorine all over when I was working on the pool. That wasn't the first article of clothing I've ruined that way; hub says I need to work on the pool topless, but I suspect his motives.
Anyway, we all finished up around the same time and Gordon took Dave home, then took us out to lunch at a nearby pub that just opened that he was curious about. The food was about as good as you'd expect at a pub (adequate) but it felt all grown-up to order booze at 2 in the afternoon. Then after Gordon headed home I went for a swim. The pool's in great shape. Who wants to come over for a swim?
We had invites to 3 social engagements. The first was with Kirby to an event that looked to be wall-to-wall people. Hub had gotten a lot of social contact having spent time in malls the last 2 days, and decided he wasn't up for a big event. Kirby was understanding, and we also didn't feel like braving downtown to see the bats with Brenda. So we went to visit Brö and Tom and watched silly movies and played games- Scrabble, Mancala, and Chez Geek. It was a goofy, fun, and relaxing evening.
