I chatted with the Gyno's nurse. She initially said "you'll need at least a week off." Then corrected herself and said "Hey, this is major surgery. You could tell them you need six weeks off. It depends on how you heal, how you react to the anaesthetic, and all that. I would tell them that you need at least two weeks, and you can see how you feel." She said I could drive and go up stairs right away if I felt like it (cautioning me about driving while on painkillers) but that I probably shouldn't have sex for "a couple of weeks." When I asked for more details, she said "why don't I schedule you for a visit sooner than the pre-op so you can ask the doc?" so now I have a pre-pre-op on 6/18. This works for me; I have a list of more than a dozen questions that I want to plough through. I can also see if I can squick him out by getting a long list about what specific kinds of sex are okay at what times.
Edit: I checked with my leave person; it turns out I burned most of my leave getting my mom to AZ. So I am looking into the option of extended sick leave. If I get approved for that I could request up to 10 weeks, it looks like. I'm trying to decide if I should request a lot and maybe not need it or request a little and see if I need more after that. It's paid leave, and I earn leave even when I'm not here. Working for the government definitely has it's good points.
