When someone mentioned a Costco had opened here in town, I asked 'what's Costco?' and the reply was 'they're like Wal-Mart' so I never went there, seeing as how Wal-Mart is the great satan and all. This article seems to imply that they're the white hats to WM's black hats, so maybe I'll give them a try.

CostCo is more like Sam's Club, only it tends to have higher quality stuff. It has luxury items, things in insane bulk and luxury items in insane bulk. Generally, but not always, its prices are better than you'd get elsewhere, but there's membership costs.

It's nickname is 'the store from hell' because of the quantity it sells things in. If you have 36 ounces of Whoppers, you've got "Whoppers from Hell". If you have 16 quarts of soymilk, you have "Soymilk from Hell".
