So, correct me if I'm wrong. I've been thinking about this ever since I rewrote the words to that song Veruca sang in the Willy Wonka movie. But as I recall, the same song included these words:

Veruca: I want a feast
Dad: You ate before you came
V: I want a bean feast
D: (rolling eyes): Oh, one of those.

A... bean feast? Is this some sort of euphemism that I'm not familiar with, or do rich little girls often wish for bean feasts?

As an aside, the woman that played her went from a very interesting looking brown-haired girl to a very bland looking blond actress who runs a children's acting school. On the other hand, the guy that played Charlie went from a blond little furrowed-brow kid to a brown-haired guy with a gay mustache who never acted again, and instead became a veterinarian. Good for him! He was all "yeah, acting was fun, but I really wanted to be a vet."

Johnny Depp has signed on to be in Tim Burton's version of Willy Wonka.
Should be cool.

Sounds like a Britishism:

Which wouldn't be odd, considering the author, but wasn't the movie American?

Sure, but Veruca was pretty British, so it makes sense.

Thanks for the info! I have learned something new today. :)
