Okay, so last night was candle magic/pentagram/cle/color class. Rather than (or more accurately in addition to) me explaining how to charge a candle, I asked G. to demonstrate it. Since I have been feeling sorta wound up emotionally (and not really in a positive way) I asked him to charge me up one for emotional health and serenity. He did a lovely job, and we lit the candle right away. The class went really, really well- everyone had interesting questions to ask and the last person left around 10:30 (class starts at 7 and usually runs about 2 hours).

It was one o' them full-sized tapers (12 inches I think) so it was set to burn for many hours. I went to bed and slept like a log. I remember the dream I was having before I awoke... I was in a school that was either an advanced high school or a small college, and was looking for a teacher. I can't remember why I needed to talk to him, but I ended up in the library. I wandered around there, and noticed the books everyone was checking out seemed very basic- like children's picture books about animals and such. I thought I might need to wait around for awhile, so I grabbed one of the books off a re-shelf cart I passed. Then, I was outside, and had my digital camera. I was supposed to take pictures of my trip from where I was to where I was headed; they were to be used as evidence... and ended up taking too many pictures of the curb and bushes so when I arrived at a trinket store I decided to stop and delete all but the most representative curb pictures I had taken so I'd still have room for other stuff. There were many interesting things in the trinket store, including wrought iron dragon/griffin things that I took several pictures of. The room next to the store had several older people having some kind of celebration. One of them mentioned OTO, and I said I didn't know much about OTO since I was more into the Wicca thing. Then, 4 men carried in a bier from outside (still a bright sunny day) with a tiny old and apparently dead black man on it, and set it down in some kind of box with no lid; the people all stood up and started chanting and singing. They interspersed this with 'Get up, get up!' to the man on the bier. He opened his eyes and sat up, as if he'd only been sleeping, and everyone cheered. The party continued on. I saw my mom, who was looking at a tray of jewelry from the trinket shop. She had picked up a piece that made me gasp. Depending on when I looked at it, it was either a large silver and translucent ankh, or a stick pin with a large (like, quarter-sized) star-cut dark bluish-teal topaz (like the one in my HPS ring, but bigger and a much deeper blue). She insisted on buying it for me, but I told her she was broke and I didn't think she should. I was looking at the tray and saw a pendant of silver and paua shell and thought it was pretty in a much more mundane way, and that I would buy it if it wasn't too expensive- and it wasn't- marked down to $14.99. But I still really wanted the ankh-topaz, so I asked Mom how much it was. She said $100. I said 'how about you pay $50 and I'll pay $50?' She agreed, and soon after that I awoke.

I got up to use the bathroom, and noticed the smell of burnt candle. The serenity candle had burned down, and when I touched the holder it was hot to the touch- so I must have awoken almost the moment it went out. This seems like a big fat ol' portent, but heck if I know what any of it means. The ending of the serenity candle meant that I started thinking about all the stuff I need to do today, so I realized I wasn't going to get back to sleep and went ahead and got up and started my day.
