I took an on-line test but promptly lost the address; anyway, it said the ideal places for me to live in are as follows:
Medford, Oregon
Fayetteville, Arkansas
Charleston, West Virginia
Frederick, Maryland
Las Cruces, New Mexico
Sacramento, California.
I am not familiar with any of these towns. If I had my druthers, I'd (assuming I got run out of Austin, which is my first choice) go back to Kerrville Texas, where I went to high school, with Albuquerque and Ruidoso New Mexico as runners up, plus Santa Fe or Nipomo California if I was sitting on a big pile of money. I've visited all these places and enjoy the vibes there.
I was finally approved to be a foster mom for Siamese Rescue (which is mostly Siamese or Siamese mix, but has other cats too). The director seems to really think I'm the cat's ass, pardon the expression, and wants to hook me up with a kitty right away. I'd like that, because my mother's beloved Gus suddenly had to be put to sleep when it was found that he had a tumor on his spine. I think if I got a kitten before Mom came down for Thanksgiving she might be charmed and want to adopt it. So I'm looking at kittens- if she doesn't adopt it, someone will. Kittens adopt quickly and I want to give this a short trial while I discover if I can do this, and if my cats will put up with it. There are several 2-month old kittens, but I may go for one who is a little older, like 4-5 months. I also belatedly remembered that my cat allergies seemed to be a lot worse around Siamese cats, but that hasn't happened for over 20 years and it may not be an issue. We shall see.

Tomorrow I clean! We have 6 people who will be traipsing through the house- Bob, Eric's sister and her husband, my mother and brother, and Bro's boyfriend. All of them smoke cigarettes (Bob only sort of- he's taken to smoking cloves lately) so I'll have to get the porch clean too, since no one but no one smokes tobacco in our home. I may need to ask Bro to bring a spare ashtray, too. I just hope I can keep them from throwing butts in the yard or the pool or something. Yuck.
