I'm 34 today!

Sheena got me a gold-colored pendant with a phoenix on it!

LeeAnn got me the 3rd Harry Potter book!

Gordon took Eric and I to a nice Italian restaurant!

Eric got me this uber-cool mp3-CD player with a million features!

Laura got me a necklace of blue glass beads, a blue sandalwood jar candle, blue sandalwood soap (so when did we all decide blue was the color associated with sandalwood? Well, fine by me, I like blue just fine), those Oriental excercise balls that make the twingly noise when you move them (blue with hummingbirds on 'em), and a rubber ducky with little devil horns!

Kirby got me a dozen roses in my favorite color (that yellow with the orange-pink edged petals), a pretty book on cat astrology, this candle set with cylinder glasses of varying heights that you fill with water, blue glass beads, and those floaty candles (blue of course- and I actually did consider dyeing the water blue), and a blue votive candle that smells like something (probably sandalwood) in a brass votive holder with little stars and moons cut out!

Bro got me the soundtrack to Run, Lola, Run, the 3 books of the Dark Materials series by Phillip Pullman (a young adult series that I'd heard was upsetting a lot of Christians; see Harry Potter series), and Florence King's With Charity Toward None: A Fond Look at Misanthropy!

I also got cards from some higher-up at work, my chiropractor, and my father-in-law! Mum's gonna bring down whatever she got me when she comes down for Thanksgiving.

I was gonna be all mopey, but everyone's been so nice to me and lots have wished me a happy birthday... gives me that warm, fuzzy feeling inside. :)

Ah! The His Dark Materials series is fucking awesome, and in terms of anti-Christian content it makes Harry Potter look like the Chronicles of Narnia. I love it, and I expect you will, too.

No moping allowed on your birthday. :)

There are a lotof people on LJ who I read ona casual basis. Then there are one or two who areregular reads. Those few who are insightful, humorous, intelligent and so damned honest. I keep coming back.

So, thoguh I didn't get the LJ notice til later (computer meltdown, lots of fun issues), I found it ironic that I'd actually been thinking of you--by name--and your writing through much of the day.

I hope the day went well. November people don't seem to do much of anythingby halves. I hope you never have to.

Jason

Oooh- that is very nice to read; I appreciate the compliment. I try to balance out the awareness that I'm at least partially writing for an audience with the fact that I do want to keep it honest. Thanks for the confirmation... :)

We November babies do tend to make sure our lives are interesting, don't we? I love it! And I hope your meltdown troubles are over. Bleah.
