The snow was gone by noon yesterday- it was odd looking out and seeing water running off the roof like rain in full sunlight. I'm really glad I got to see it falling from the sky; I probably won't get another chance for a few years if Austin weather remains typical.

Hub hates Valentine's Day. Even though he has someone now, all the memories of past VDs spent in misery just add up too much, plus throw in a general disdain for consumer-driven holiday celebrations in general. I told him I'd let him off the hook (even though I always liked it) and instead we had some of our single buddies over for an anti-Valentine's Day pot luck. Kirby and Meg brought over a bunch of various things to eat with chips (and chips), Brenda had one of her amazing home made cheesecakes, Stephen brought his cheerful self, and hub made fantastic veggie enchiladas and some more of the chocolate lava muffins. We flipped around the cable and were bouncing back and forth between 'Four Weddings and a Funeral' and 'Fatal Attraction', but it was going between too smarmy and too intense, so someone suggested 'Fight Club', which a couple of people hadn't seen. It seemed to be the perfect anti-VD kind of movie; no matter what your personal stuff it's hard not to watch that and go 'shit, at least my other personality isn't out blowing up shit.' Well, that's how I feel- maybe some people wish their other personality was out blowing up shit. But as much as I get annoyed at the committee in my head, I'm glad I've never had to use bullets to get them to leave me alone. :)

I jest, but it really is one of my favorite movies. The 'you are not your stuff' message hit me at just the right time (along with the similar themed but very differently executed 'American Beauty') and the scene where Tyler lets that clerk go after threatening to shoot him and says 'his breakfast tomorrow morning will taste better than anything you or I have ever eaten' still gives me chills.

We finished off the evening with the traditional VD shag (after the guests had left, of course). It occurred to me that this is the 18th anniversary since I lost my virginity- on Valentine's day when I was 18 years old in 1986. It's hard to believe I've been getting some for half my life now. It doesn't feel like it was that long ago. I'd say overall it's been a good 18 years. Hooray for sex!

A good anti-VD flick. A bunch of female friends and I got together and watched anime porn. I guess we were collectively losing our hentai virginity, or something. It was pretty hilarious.

Yeah, we watched "Bondage Queen Kate" (disappointing!) and "F3" which was really funny. Good times. We decided that, all of us being single, chickflicks and romance were decidedly OUT - and what's more unromantic than porn?

Yeah, actually there WAS tentacle sex in "F3." - The girl gets hooked up to this ultimate sex machine run by a mad scientist because she can't orgasm.

That seems like a logical form of therapy @@
